The F-15E is used both for air-to-ground missions with high weapon loads and as an interceptor and also flies night and all-weather missions. She got her baptism of fire in 1991 during Operation Desert Storm in Iraq. The maximum speed without external loads is Mach 2.5 at high altitudes.
